Questions about rare Skins
I just got back to playing guild wars and i saw somethings on rare skins, which i am having trouble understanding. Now ive got some questions.
1.What is a skin? 2. So if i have a crellenated sword and apply a gothic skin to my sword...it would become a gothic sword and NOT a crellenated sword? Also, if i apply it will it delete my other mods i.e sundering and fortitude mod. 3. What special features does it add (as of apperance from the original sword)? 4. Does it add a "Golden" to the title? 5. What is the general price ranges for the skins alone and not with the weapon? 6. Is it salvageable? |

A skin is just an appearance of an item - weapon, shield, armor, whatever. A gold item is labeled as rare. Green items are labeled as unique.
You cannot change a skin, just use one weapon or another with the skin that you desire. Skins have no effect, a max sword is a max sword, skin makes no difference whatsoever. You can salvage an item but you will get either materials or upgrades, destroying the item. |

Skin=Model and Texture.
You cannot buy a 'skin' to apply to a weapon. When you look to buy a specific skin you're looking for a specific weapon appearance. Example: WTB Dragon Skinned Earth Staff. That means that person is looking to buy an earth staff with the Dragon Staff model/texture. Items appearance cannot be changed short of dying them. IMO skin is a stupid name for a weapons appearance as what people look for is specific MODELS. Skin refers to the texture map applied to the model. People in most cases are buying items primarily for their model and not necessarily the texture applied to it. When I make a 3D model I 'skin' it with a texture. If I want a premade texture I do not search the web for model skin cause I'll probably get porn. I search model texture or something along those lines. Anyhoo, skins arent applied to items, a skin is what an item already looks like. |
